Krishna Jayanthi  or   is noted as  the birth of Lord Krishna or  Lord Vishnu  and this festival will fall in the month between August-September and this holy-day is widely celebrated all over places in India.

The festival is called in different names as Krishna Jayanti, Janma Ashtami, Krishnaashtami , Gokul Ashtami, and as Sri Jayanti.According to the Hindu lunar calendar, Lord Krishna was born on the eighth day (ashtami) of the second (dark) fortnight of the month of Shravana.

Krishna Jayanti is especially significant from the viewpoint of establishing Righteousness (Dharma), and surrendering unto The Lord.Sri Krishna Jayanti is celebrated on two different days in South India and North India.The most important mantra recited on the day is ‘Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya.
