Panguni Uthiram 2010 – PanguniUthiram is a festival Tamil Hindus in Tamil Nadu. Panguni Utiram falls on the day the moon transits in the asterism or nakshatra of Uttara phalguni or Uttaraphalguni in the twelth month of the Tamil solar calendar i.e. Panguni (March-April). This full moon signifies the marriage of Parvati and Parameswara (Lord Shiva), Murugan and Teyvayanai, and Aandaal (also known as Kothai) and Rangamannar took place. Many believe that Lord Shiva married Goddess Parvathi on this day in Srirangam.Another important wedding that took place on Panguni Utiram is the one between Andal and Sri Rangam natha (Lord Vishnu). This is known as Panguni Uthira Thirukkalyanam and is an important event in Srivilliputtur and neighboring areas. On Panguni Uthiram, Murugan marries Kamalavalli Naachiyar and give his Kalyana Kola Seva to his Bhakthas. From Brahmanda Puranam we learn that on Panguni Uthiram every holy water joins Thumburu teertha (also spelt as Tirtha), one of seven sacred tanks in Tirupati Tirumala.
