Shitala Satam Vrat 2010 date in Shravan month in Gujarat

Vrat is observed in the month of Sravan on the seventh day of the dark fortnight. On this day Sheetala mata’s pooja is performed after bath with cold water.

On this day Sheetala Saatam only one cold meal is eaten during the day. Shitalamata uses a donkey as her vehicle according to Skand Purana. Sheetala mata holds a broom in her one hand and a kalash in her other hand. ShitalaSatam popularly known as Shitala Shasti, is dedicated to Goddess, Mata Shitala, the goddess of pox and measles. It is observed for the welfare of children and others to escape from measles and small pox. There is a popular belief that Goddess Shitala appears in homes and rolls on the cool ashes in the hearth or fireplace.
