AnantChaturdashi is also the last day of the Hindu festival of Ganeshotsav. It is generally the tenth or eleventh day after Ganesh Chaturthi, and all the Ganesh idols brought into homes and communities are immersed in the sea or nearby lakes and rivers. On this day, people travel to the waterfront with the idols, large and small, dancing and singing in large processions. Lord Ganesha is departed, only to be welcomed the next year with equal excitement.

Anant Chaturdashi Vrat Katha or Story

The 14th day of the bright half of Bhadrapad or Anant Chaturdashi auspicious day Lord. Once upon a time there was a Brahmin (Sumant) and wife Diksha gave birth to baby girl who named Sushila, but Diksha dies affter the death of Diksha, Sumant marries another lady called Karkash. Karkash did’nt like to look after Sushila so when Sushila grew younger she decided to marry Kaundinya to get rid of the ruthless behavior of her step mother. Once Sushila goes with a group of women bathing in the river. A group of women were offering prayers to Anant. Sushila follow the women and prays and in a little time she became quite rich. When her husband observed the Anant string in her hand he harasses and told her that they were rich not because of his wisdom. Saying this he took the thread and burnt it. After this incident, financial problems arises. He soon realized the importance of Anant string. He vowed for fourteen years and got his wealth back.
