Utthana Ekadasi, also known as Dev Prabodhini Ekadashi which is observed on Kartik Shukla Paksha Ekadashi. UtthanaEkadas vrata is also called as Bodhini Ekadashi.
Accordingt to Legend – on this holy day, Lord Vishnu awakes from Yoganidra. Uttana Ekaadasi also marks the conclusion of Chaturmas vrat. Tulsi Damodar Vivah is also performed on this Ekadashi. On this Utthana Ekadasi day, Pandarpur kartik Palki Yatra takes place. Two Ekadashis occur in one month according to different positions of moon. Bhagavata Purana (sk. IX, adhy. 4) notes the observation of Ekadashi by Ambarisha, a devotee of Vishnu.
