kanuma date is on January 16 2011, Mukkanuma date is on January 17 2011. Sankranti festival Day 3 is celebrated on the name of Kanuma. Sankranti festival Day 4 is celebrated on the name of Mukkanuma in Andhra Pradesh. Kanuma is believed that Lord Krishna lifted the Govardhan hill to protect the people of Gokulam on this day. Mukkanuma is celebrated on the day after Kanuma and is primarily a day of feasting and merry making.In Hindu mythology, Lord Krishna asked the Gokul people to worship the Govardhan hill, which blocked the clouds and provided rain.

MakarSankranti or Sankranti or Sankranthi marks the transition of the Sun into Makara rashi (Capricorn) on its celestial path. Traditionally, this has been one of many harvest days in India.
